Are you looking to start your own internet marketing business?
Do you want to learn from the world's best marketers?
Or maybe you just want to know if that "SEO expert" you hired is doing the right thing?
You're at the right place.
The Warrior Forum is a community of over 1.2 million internet marketers, who are here to help each other learn and grow their businesses.
This community has all the information you need, but it also has standards and guidelines for how you should act.
Before you join the discussion and start asking questions, please ensure that you read through this quick guide - it'll help you avoid committing a faux pas and it'll help you get the most out of the forum.
How To Find Great Content
Warrior Forum has over 8.5 million posts, covering everything from complex search engine optimisation strategies to fliers that will stand up to the elements. With such a broad range of discussions, chances are someone has already asked your question, or something close to it.
Protip #1
If you have a specific question in mind, please search for it first. It is generally considered poor form to ask a question that can be easily found with a quick search.
Search First
You can find the search bar at the top of every page. Using it is as straightforward as using Google - just type what you need and hit "Search".
If you're having trouble narrowing down the results, you can also try the advanced search option here.
The Feed
If you have a general interest in internet marketing, rather than a specific question, then the best place to start is The Feed.
By default, the Feed will show you all of the most interesting discussions that are happening across Warrior Forum right now. It covers all of the various sub-categories, so you don't need to explicitly opt-in to anything - if it's interesting content, it'll be there.
If you'd rather see the top voted threads of each day, or what the latest posts were, you can choose to order the Feed by "Top Voted" or "Most Recent" respectively.
You can also choose to see only the posts in a certain sub-forum by using either the top menu bar, or the "Forums" side menu.
Upvotes
If you think that a discussion thread is worth reading, you can "Upvote" it, so that our algorithms know to show it to more people. By upvoting good discussions, you can help others learn without even needing to participate in the conversation.
Making Yourself Heard
If you've found a discussion and want to add to it, there are a few simple rules that other Warriors stick to, and we'd like you to respect as well.
You Can Disagree, But Be Polite
Heated arguments on the internet tend to spiral out of control very quickly. One minute everyone is comparing notes on building backlinks, the next minute everyone is "literally Hitler". If you see this happening, your best bet is to stay out of it. The mods will show up, and they will start banning accounts, so leave it be and make sure yours isn't one of them. You can also help us out by reporting discussions that are going wrong.
Self-promotion Won't Work (and it'll get you banned)
While this is a marketing forum, we do not allow self-promotion. Why? Well you can probably imagine how helpful a forum would be if it was full of people just promoting their own products. If you do want to promote your business on Warrior Forum, you're very welcome to buy a signature, run banner ads, or start a WSO.
Use Proper Spelling And Grammar
We don't expect you to have memorised Strunk & White, but it's a lot easier to follow a discussion when everyone takes care with spelling and grammar. If English is not your first language, don't worry, you'll get a fair bit of leeway as long as your contributions are meaningful. If you're planning on writing in all caps, please go away.
Use The "Thanks" button
The "Thanks" button is there to ensure that you can thank other Warriors for their contributions without cluttering up the discussion with one line responses ("great tip", "awesome idea", "wow!", etc). It makes it way easier for other Warriors to read the thread without those one liners.
Protip #2:
It is poor etiquette to post a short reply thanking a member - use the "Thanks" button instead.
Check The Age Of The Thread
Warrior Forum has been around since 1997, so there are a lot of discussions that are dead, and have been peacefully resting for years. In general, if a thread is more than a year old, you're better off starting a new one. This will mean that Warriors won't have to read through a discussion that is years old before getting to your contribution to the discussion.
Protip #3:
Avoid commenting on discussions that are more than a year old - just start a new discussion instead.
Starting A Discussion
If you've searched for what you need and come up empty, then it's time to start a new discussion.
To get the most out of Warrior Forum, you'll need to get three things right.
1. Write A Descriptive Title
Your title should make it clear what your question is, what problem you're having, or what the discussion is about. It's the first thing other Warriors will see, and it's the difference between them paying attention or moving on, so make it stand out.
Here are some examples:
Good | Bad |
My landing page doesn't convert well, could you suggest improvements? | Need landing page help |
What is a genuine way of earning money online, without upfront fees? | How to make money online? |
Does adding a video of yourself to a screencast make a big impact? | Screencast question |
I'm trying to market my hairdressing business, how would you do it? | Need ideas |
Can I use a wordpress landing page as an email marketing tool to build my list? | Wordpress |
I need some advice on monetization options for my new website | Help |
Protip #4:
Many Warriors will ignore threads that have vague or generic titles, so make sure your title is clear and descriptive and you'll get the best response.
2. Give A Detailed Description
By starting a discussion, you're asking other Warriors to give up their time to help you - so make it as easy for them as possible! The more detail you give them, the more they've got to go on to answer your question, get to the root of your problem, or contribute to the discussion.
Every thread is different, so I can't tell you what to say, but consider adding the following to your description:
- What you think the answer is
- Things you've already tried
- Details about your business/situation
- Other information you've already found on the problem
Don't worry about making your description too long - threads with longer descriptions tend to attract more responses.
Protip #5:
The most common response to a short and undetailed description is to ask for more details.
3. Choose An Appropriate Subforum
You'll get the best response by starting your discussion on the right sub-forum, so read through the list of options carefully. If you're really unsure, you can just choose the "Internet Marketing" sub-forum, and our moderators will move it to the correct spot when they see it.
Build Up Your Profile
Once you're getting comfortable with Warrior Forum, you'll want to flesh out your profile, so that other Warriors can see that you are a trusted and credible member of the community.
Having a filled out profile can benefit you, as Warriors will sometimes work together and collaborate on joint ventures. If you've got a filled out profile, that's much more likely to happen.
You can review and improve your profile here. Most people add a profile picture, where they're from, and what they're working on.
Other Members & Private Messaging
Under no circ*mstance do we advise putting your email on the forum. This is a public forum, so listing your email may open you up to a world of spam beyond what you ever thought possible (this is true of ANY public forum).
If you want to contact another Warrior, you can send them a private message. In general you should have a pretty good reason to PM someone, as most questions and clarifications would be better asked on the main forum, but we know there are always exceptions.
To private message a member, hover over their username and a pop up will appear with the chat icon.
If you've been harassed or spammed via PM, you can report the offender directly in the inbox by hitting the red exclamation mark icon, or by emailing support@warriorforum.com with the specifics of what's happening. We will find them, and we will ban them.
