Penn College Spotlight on Women’s Soccer

Solomon's Words for the Wise (44)

Coming off a season that coach Ian Scheller called “one of the best in program history” with an 11-2-7 record, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s soccer team looks to keep it going this year.

The Wildcats open at 6 p.m. on Friday in a nonconference match at Penn State Altoona.

“Our 2024 preseason has been a massive success so far. We have a group of 13 freshmen, along with 19 returners, who have come in and brought a lot of energy to the training ground this season,” the third-year coach said. “There is a hunger and a desire to continue our progress and show a level of consistency as a team. Competition for positions has been fierce and has given our coaching staff a lot of headaches as we begin to creep closer toward our first scrimmages of the season. We have a challenging nonconference schedule, before we begin conference play in late September, so we have a lot of chances to improve and test ourselves against strong opposition.”

Your Story

Solomon's Words for the Wise (45)solomonswords 0 Comments

by

Pastor B.J. Knefley

What’s your story? We all have one. Have you ever thought about what yours is? What does your life say to others? What do others say about you? Is it a story that you want to repeat? One that you want to continue in or do you want to change it?

Our story relates to our purpose. The way we live our life, what we do, and what we say, is all reflected in our core purpose. If you’re not sure what this is, simply take a look at your journey, it will tell you. Like a road map of our life, it will tell us where we’ve been. If you could trace out the course that you have plotted out, it will tell you where you are going. If you don’t like where you are going or where you’re headed, then choose to do a course correction.

A couple of months ago a person called me frustrated that they weren’t able to accomplish what they wanted where they lived. Because I’ve had a very long relationship with this person I simply told them that their purpose wasn’t local, but rather more global in nature. Looking back over their history it was obvious that their abilities were best served in other areas. The following day they received a phone call asking if they’d be willing to go to Mongolia to teach English. As I write this, that is where they are, fulfilling their purpose, continuing to write their story.

Sometimes we get sidetracked with things that don’t matter. We spin our wheels doing things that although might be wonderful to do, simply don’t fit with who we are. For others, it’s getting involved in unhealthy and destructive things that get us off course. Everyday we are writing our story. Everyday we have choices. In this journey we have stop signs, and warnings to slow down or to proceed with caution. If we would take the time to plot where we’ve been, it will help us make decisions as to where we’re going to go. The story that we’re writing is always a choice. We get to choose how it is written. But, if we can grasp that we are each created for purpose, that our existence isn’t by chance but rather by design, we might have a reason to make different choices that ultimately create an amazing story. What story are you writing? Think about it.
